makan-makan-makan-makan

Mengidam nak makan cendol, lucky me, Mimi dengan baik hatinya nak layan. Hihi..Nasib baik baru lepas memborong dekat SeeWoo, so, adalah membeli daun pandan. Handmade cendol gituuu.. :->
Maka pergilah ke Armadale Path, rumah Mimi & rakan2 untuk pesta cendol. Haha. Makanan sampingan lain pon ada jugak, tapi mata nampak cendol jek.

Right after berpesta cendol, I went to Frank's flat for 'Thai Nite'. Coincidentally, Frank's house is in the same area. Only 5 minutes walk. The chefs were the newly wed, Boom & Ning. Both from Thailand, of course! Dah namanya 'Thai Nite' kann..

Before dinner

The newly-wed, busy in the kitchen. Kena dera. Haha

Siap ada sate segala, tapi daku tak boleh makan..Huwaaaa..

Frank bergaya dengan Creme Brulee dia..Lazat! Siap berapi2 segala..well, it's in the name, Creme Brulee = Burnt Cream. :->

Lepas dah kenyang semua, borak2, and I saw this very very old, Kodak camera. He bought it during the http://www.strathclyde.police.uk/index.asp?locID=911&docID=-1(lost property auction) which was held thrice a year by Strathclyde Police, melelong barang2 rampasan & curian.

Unique!

London (again!) ~ Day 3

Next morning, had roti canai telur and teh tarik for breakfast + kuih muih, again, at the Malaysia Hall's canteen.

Ada Utusan Malaysia yang minggu sebelum tu punya.

Then we went to Kensington Palace & Garden nearby.

Views of Kensington Garden

Kensington Palace

Then, went back to Malaysia Hall for lunch. This time, sangat sangat best sebab ada ikan patin!. Bertunang dengan orang Temerloh, haruslah jadi peminat ikan patin. ;) Ikan keli sambal pon ada!. Difficult to decide, finally I decided to have both and also sambal terung. Since ikan patin and keli are not included in the 2 or 3 meal package, the price? Tutup mata ajelah bayar.! :oh_god: And had air sirap bandung. Heaven!

After lunch, pulanglah kami ke tempat asal. Haha. And, while waiting for my train back to Glasgow, went to the Krispy Kreme stall again and bought three dozens of doughnuts. Well, it was supposed to be the normal promotion, buy one dozen of assorted doughnuts and I will get one dozen of original glazed for free but I was given the Friends of Krispy Kreme coupons the day before, which entitled me to get an extra dozen for free if I bought two dozens..so, I ended up with three big boxes of Krispy Kreme! :-O

My 'precious' doughnuts..LOL

London (again!) ~ Day 2 (in the afternoon)

Then, we walked pass Euston station and taraaa…found the-ever-craved Krispy Kreme stall and planned to buy just 4 doughnuts but ended up buying a dozen!. Another food ticked off the to-eat-list.Then, we went to Oxford Street, saw a Halal pizza shop along the street and bought a big slice of beef and onion pizza for £1.50.
And then saw this kedai selling buah berangan, and bought a pack for £1. Ada 6 biji je buah berangan in the £1 pack. Huhu.

Sukaria nampak stall Krispy Kreme! :horay:

Makan pizza tepi jalan & beli buah berangan @ Oxford St

Tumpang duduk tepi Primark Oxford St, makan Krispy Kreme. LOL

Then, we make our way to Notting Hill to check out the area. Paul live there but I forgot to call him. Haiyaa..
Walked along the famous Portobello Market area, imagining Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts were there too. Hohoho.
And found this Malaysian cuisine restaurant, Makan. Char kuew teow for me and Fifah ordered laksa.

Tube

Portobello market, stalls tak banyak sebab dah lewat petang pon time kitorang pergi tu.

We walked till the end of Portobello Road..

Jengjeng..sampai dekat Makan

Sedap okehh

So, bolehla dikira berapa kali makan ye hari ni. Hohoho..Makan je non-stop. Inilah namanya jalan-jalan cari makan! LOL

London (again!) ~ Day 2 (in the afternoon)

Then, we went to the British Library.
Walk passed St Pancras.

Luar library

There was a security check at the entrance. Grrrrrr!!. Even to enter the library felt like we were at the airport security checkpoint! Anyway, my mission there was to get the reader pass of the library. Managed to register as a reader by providing some documents and got the reader pass immediately and the pass is valid for 3 years. Well, I wonder when I’m going to use the reader pass anyway. :D

Inside the library

The most interesting part of the visit was to enter the Sir John Ritblat Gallery. This is the place where the most valuable artifacts are exhibited. The artifacts in the Gallery are original documents either donated or bought by the library which includes music manuscripts of the Beatles and Mozart. There are also al-Quran from era of the Mongols, and the 1215 Magna Carta.

Also, there's an early draft of Thomas Hardy’s Tess of the D’Ubervilles and also the jottings that led to Oscar Wilde’s last published poem. All the scribblings from the greatest writer can be seen in the Gallery. But the difficult part was to read their handwritings. Hihi.

As for Malaysians, one thing interesting would be the Raffles family collection, which includes letters written in Jawi. There was a letter from Sultan Mahmud Syah of Johor to Stamford Raffles in 1811. And 9 days after the letter was written, Sultan Mahmud Syah died.

No pictures were allowed to be taken in the Gallery due to the sensitive nature of all the documents, and the need for them to be preserved. Temperatures in the display cases were kept low; and lighting was kept at a minimum. Sungguh romantik keadaan dalam galleri tu. :->

And there's this straight, leaning ‘chair’ - either for relaxing or reading which was surprisingly, very comfy.

At the entrance

London (again!) ~ Day 2 (in the morning)

The next morning, had breakfast at the Malaysia Hall's canteen -> Nasi Lemak + rendang + telur goreng & teh tarik. Saw a familiar face, a Malaysian artist but had no idea what’s his name. :D

Malaysians only! :-O

Arrived at Belgrave Square, need to sign in the big book at the counter and waited to be called to get the waiting number. The uncle at the counter was so friendly and cheerful. Good! Since I’m a special case applicant, which was for lost passport, I didn’t have to wait to get the queue number but I’ve got to fill up few copies of forms.

Waduh..waduhh..had to write a-page-long essay (two copies!) to describe what had happened and some soal selidik forms. Spent almost half an hour filling up all the necessary forms, and paid £1 for the bar code fees and also the additional forms for lost passport.

Formsss

Terangkan 'panjang-melebar' okehhh. LOL

Then, the uncle sent me straight to the passport counter. Well, the procedure for lost passport applicant is to be interviewed, so I was brought to the main office, and blablabla. Borak punya borak punya borak dengan pegawai tu, settle dah segala. So, the waiting time to get my new passport will be about 2 to 3 months unlike passport renewal yang boleh siap hari tu jugak. Huhu..

London (again!) ~ Day 1

The first time I set my feet in the UK, specifically in London, was 10 years ago. Best woo datang holiday-jalan2 & shopping, instead of now, datang kena belajar. Huhuhuh..managed to cover several parts of Scotland, Wales & England at that time.

Anyway, since I came to the UK again in 2005 until now, I've been to London for sooo many times, maklumlah dekat saje Birm to London, but eversince I'd moved to Glasgow, tak pergi lagi dah. Jauh laaa. But, due to the pencurik jahat, I had to travel to London again. This time to the Malaysian Immigration to apply for a new passport. Luckily, Fifah was available to accompany me and we set the date and time to meet up in London. Since I’m not able to take the plane(passport takde), immediately booked the train (usually the sooner the booking, the cheaper) thanks to the young person railcard, it costs £53.00 for return journey to London. Also booked the accommodation @ Malaysia Hall.

So, there I went, for three days two nights in London with the main mission, to apply for a new passport and to fulfil my longgg to-eat-in-London list. Arrived in Euston and took the tube to Bayswater. Just right out of the tube station, I saw the Halal Subway that I've been craving for ages. Yeehaa!..Ticked one off my to-eat-list.

My Halal Subway. :D - Roti Italian Herbs & Cheese dah abis..:-S

Malaysia Hall

Our Room..used to be the interview room for P&G during Career Fair, aparaaa itu pun tak cabut lagi!

Our beds

And that nite, we had our dinner at Halal Restaurant. Senang letak nama macam tuh. Haha.

Makan-makan lagi

All-girls weekend. ;) Rebecca(Korean) and Ying(Chinese) came over to my flat. Had dinner together, cooked nasi lemak for them and we talked non-stop till late nite and then the next morning, I served them doughnuts for breakfast. :D

Few days later, project membuat karipap. K.Atikah & me. Well, K.Atikah la sebenarnya yang buat. I'm just the one who provided the ingredients and kacau2 membentuk karipap tak jadik and then jadi tukang goreng karipap. :-D

Then, K.Atikah pulak panggil makan2. Macam2 ada! Kenyang! :horay:

Carrot cake & teh tarik!

Pencuri jahat!

Dugaan sungguh. 19th March, just about two weeks after I bought my new Toshiba laptop, my flat had been broken into. It was devastating knowing that some precious stuff was stolen and the mess that they left which I need to tidy up.

Not only that, the thieves also took my passport. So, at the moment I’ve got no passport and can’t go anywhere out of the country, of course. And even within the UK, I am not able to take the plane as passport is needed as a proof of identity before flying internally. So, it’s either the train or the bus now, but I would rather choose the train.

I’ve also lost my collection of brooches, foreign currency which was kept in the purse that I received as my engagement hantaran - Euros, Korunas, and also hundreds of Ringgit Malaysia. I’m wishing all the bad things for the thieves!

Below is my flatmate's room. She lost £700 cash as she had just moved here from Spain and still in the process of opening her bank account. So, she keeps her money at home. And her laptop was stolen as well.

They also took my diamond ring (not the engagement and risik ones, cause I wear them everytime I go out) but the one which I like most, given by mama. Geram betul! And the flat was broken into during the day, in the broad daylight. The neighbour next door, Jl went out to work from 12pm to 4pm and when she came back, both our flats were broken into and both flats were in a mess. Well, I guess there’s no one in the building at that time that no one heard anything when the thieves crashed the doors of our flats. Both our doors has got two locks but nevertheless, the thieves just kicked the door and managed to get in.

And our flats are on the third floor. Jl called the police and I got the news from dear flatmate, P, when she came back from work around 6pm and I was still at my department. When P called me, I was shocked, not knowing what to do.

So, I immediately went home from the uni and the policemen were already there and they took our fingerprints and our statements etc. But I wonder what the police could do to find the thieves. J came and the door man was also there to change the flat’s door. Now the flat has got new thick door with three locks. Phew~ took quite sometime to get in and out of the flat now. But good anyway, for our own safety.

This is the new strong and solid door which costs almost £500. Luckily the flat is insured, but only the physical building, not the content, so tuan rumah bleh claim insurance for the door.

The neighbour, Jl, has been staying here for 6 years and this is the first time things like this happened. It was just by coincidence that the thieves came at the right time, where they managed to steal my new laptop, well, three laptops to be exact, my flatmate's and the neighbour's and our passports and cash and all other stuff.

One not-so-good experience for me. :-S

Dinner @ home & Wizard of Oz @ King's Theatre

Jill requested for chicken curry. And also Patty, the Spanish girl, has just moved in, so we decided to have dinner together. The three of us. And the best thing, they tried eating using their hands, as what I always do everytime I'm having my meal. Kelakar tengoknya, masing2 kekok. But the good thing is that they managed to clear their plates, even though it takes quite a while for them to eat with their hands. LOL

Look at her fingers! :-D

Licinnn

Then about a few days after the dinner, all of us went to watch Wizard of Oz @ King's Theatre. King's Theatre ni taklah besar mana, compared to other theatres that I've been to. Tapi interior sama jek memana theatre pun. As for Wizard of Oz, the first two hours was great, masuk the third hour, I just can't wait for the show to end. Haha. Cerita best tapi lamalah sangat.
